COMPTON COUNCIL SILENTLY HANDS ANOTHER BIG, NO-BID CONTRACT TO MAYOR PERRODIN’S BROTHER

BY ALLISON JEAN EATON / COMPTON BULLETIN

Without so much as a word of public discussion, the Compton City Council has reversed its vote of a year ago and approved a $95,000 no-bid management and consulting contract with the brother of Mayor Eric J. Perrodin. The extension of the City’s existing contract with Percy Perrodin, Jr.’s, company—called Joseph and Paul, Inc.—was included in the consent agenda at the Council’s May 11 meeting.

Council members Barbara Calhoun, Lillie Dobson and Dr. Willie O. Jones—the latter reversing his vote of July 2009—accounted for the 3-0 approval. Mayor Perrodin and Councilwoman Yvonne Arceneaux were absent.

Between 2003 and 2009, Percy Perrodin’s company has received contracts totaling $540,000 from the City of Compton to provide management and consulting services for the Municipal Law Enforcement Services Department.

Perrodin is brazen. He gave the trash collection to Pacific Coast Waste because of his buddy Steve Tucker and Mel Howard. How this isn’t being reported on more is beyond me. These guys donated a lot of money to Perrodin and he handed them a huge contract.
