COMPTON RESIDENTS CONSIDERING BOYCOTT, LAWSUIT TO STOP POLICE DEPT COMEBACK

BY ALLISON JEAN EATON / COMPTON BULLETIN

Aftershocks continue to ripple through Compton’s 10.5 square miles following the city council’s 3-2 vote last week to re-establish a local police department a plan that no longer has the backing of the consultant on whose study the plan is based.

A majority of the community appears staunchly opposed to reviving the department—shut down a decade ago because of rampant corruption—and several of the city’s most vociferous activists are currently rallying their fellow constituents to get active in a movement to stop the return of the Compton Police Department. They are calling for a boycott of the city’s Juneteenth celebration. There has even been mention of possibly filing an injunction preventing the city from moving forward with the plan. READ MORE

Very interesting concept! “There has even been mention of possibly filing an injunction preventing the city (Compton) from moving forward with the plan.” Perhaps the “injunction process” can be used in Long Beach to prevent our city council from continuosly committing their politically driven financial blunders that are not in the best interest of the residents of Long Beach. Boycott! Did somebody say boycott?

Boycott Juneteeth? What an odd reaction, when tar and feathering officials would be the more likely response.

Though, perhaps realizing the crime and trash (human and otherwise) such an event would produce. Maybe there is method to their madness.

This council will never learn! The corruption of the last department was so obvious that it is going to be embarrassing and sad when it (not if, but when it) happens again! There is so much corruption already in the Council that the residents already want to recall them out! Seems that the Mayor and Council have been involved in their own scandals, like the awarding of city contracts to friends and major campaign donors.

JP, ditto. It is rather transparent that this Council is way too close to alot of business people out there, that happen to be their friends also. I was disgusted with what the Mayor back when he gave Pacific Coast Waste a contract because the owners of the company gave him campaign contributions. They suck at their job (well, at least in my neighborhood), so how they can claim they are the best at garbage collection is beyond me. Since they fired the police department in the past for corruption, it’s about time we did the same to them now.

It is time to get these peeps out of city hall. I am tired of our city being the laughing stock of LA. Those guys at Pacific Coast Waste need to go to. They suck at their job and never can get their work right. Trash is always missed. It has to be fraud if they ever got a contract…they suck!
